Gymnast Kailin Chio entered Louisiana State University in 2024 with elite-level experience, and her early collegiate career has already elevated her into one of the most talked-about athletes in NCAA gymnastics.

Chio began her gymnastics training in mommy-and-me classes as a toddler and hasn’t stopped flipping since. She developed her foundation in the USA Gymnastics system, where she built a reputation for technical precision and consistency.

According to LSU Athletics, Chio made a historic freshman debut in 2025, earning an individual NCAA title on vault. She has since developed a polished all-around skill set, making her one of the most exciting competitors to watch in the upcoming NCAA Gymnastics Championships.

At LSU, Chio contributes across vault, uneven bars, balance beam and floor exercise. Her routines are defined by clean execution, controlled landings and composure under pressure—qualities that are essential in NCAA scoring, where even minor deductions can separate top competitors.

That consistency has translated into historic results. According to LSU Athletics, Chio scored two perfect 10s against Oklahoma in February 2026, followed by another perfect 10 on balance beam against Alabama, marking her fifth perfect score of the season. Later that month, she achieved a rare milestone—posting a perfect score on every event she competed in during a single meet, a feat LSU notes as unprecedented in NCAA gymnastics.

With a growing list of perfect scores and a foundation built on elite training, Chio is quickly establishing herself as a cornerstone of LSU’s national championship ambitions.

The NCAA Gymnastics Championships will take place April 16–18.
